The Antlers: "Parentheses"
No, this new Antlers single is not a cover of this (if only!). It's the band's trip-hoppy new single from their upcoming Burst Apart LP. In interviews, Peter Silberman has said he's going to be showing off his falsetto more, and that's certainly evident here, what with all the high-voiced verses and choruses. The real surprise here is how ominous this song sounds: Where they used to create texture and sterile, monolithic mountains of riffs, this sounds like the trailer for a movie about an axe murderer. Antlers are back, and they've got some serious balls now.
