“The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie”

Apparently this first leak from the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ forthcoming tenth album, I’m With You, wasn’t supposed to appear until Monday morning. But through the almighty power of the web, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” is here a few days early. And, well, it’s not about to start inspiring the same folks who dismissed the band’s grandiose double-album, 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. The track is essentially a natural progression from what we heard on that record. Frontman Anthony Kiedis name-drops various females’ names and rhymes them with random words over a radio-friendly groove. It’s certainly not the best we have heard from the Chili Peppers, but it’s also not the worst. I just wish it wasn’t so dull.

You can stream the track here. I’m With You drops Aug. 30.
