The Acorn: "Restoration" (Four Tet Remix)

Canadian indie quintet The Acorn's new album No Ghost doesn't physically come out in America until August 10 (via Bella Union), but it's already getting a pretty nice boost thanks to this Four Tet remix of the tension building cut "Restoration."

Kieren Hebden strips the track of its driving drums, but leaves the guitars hanging there in mid-air while mixing in bits of the vocals. While some drums come in later on, mirroring the crescendo that the original song undergoes, they remain as beautifully understated as the drifting guitars of the first half. It's a track so delicate that a cough might blow it away, but it's also a blue-ribbon example of reinterpretation and deconstruction. Which, coming from Four Tet, isn't that big of a surprise.

Check it out over at Stereogum.

Four Tet + guitars + fey voice = kinda "where the streets have no name" U2 vibe. i kinda like this.
