By now, you’ve all heard the National’s superlative fifth album, High Violet. And by now you know it’s pretty damn fantastic, and all your non-National loving friends are about to come around in a big way (probably). But here’s something you don’t know: The band recently took to an abandoned castle(!) in New York to record a set of High Violet tracks for the folks at Pitchfork TV. Right to your above is video of “Terrible Love,” and it is good (of course). This is about as good as an advertisement for an album can get. But can someone from New York confirm that there are really abandoned castles there? Please? It seems like abandoned non-rent controlled apartments are more likely.
High Violet is due out on May 11 via 4AD. [P4k]
