The trio of Tanya Morgan -- Donwill, Von Pea, and Ilyas -- dropped on of the better hip-hop records of 2009 in Brooklynati, a concept album depicting life as a rapper in the made up city of Brooklynati. And one of its standout tracks was easily "Just Not True," a funky head-nodder filled with braggadocio-laced bars that apparently also translates pretty well in a live setting. Although Ilyas is missing and caused the song to be cut short, Donwill and Von Pea still did the song justice in the above performance on Dec. 8 at the Public Assembly in Brooklyn. I haven't had the chance to catch these guys in concert yet, but from what I've seen, including the above video, it looks like they put on a solid show.
