Talkdemonic: "Revival"
Earlier this year, Portland instrumental-rock duo Talkdemonic signed up with Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace Recordings. Now Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro are getting ready to drop Ruins, which is due on Oct. 4. Ruins is a swirling kaleidoscope of gloomy soundscapes and builds off the pair's most recent full-length, 2008's Eyes at Half Mast.
The Talkdemonics recently released the dark genre-mashup "Revival" via Pitchfork. Its electric guitar squalls and tribal percussion open up for electronic and string-laden bombast. The moody track is in a constant state of uplift and decay. Well done.
