I have never seen Sufjan Stevens in concert, so the above performance last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is all I have to go by in terms of his onstage antics. I had heard he puts on a damn good show, especially in terms of bringing his recorded sound to another level in the live setting. And he definitely does that here with "Too Much," a cut off his recently released and critically lauded The Age of Adz. What's surprising here, though, is the choice of outfits for everyone in his band. It's actually kind of refreshing to see them having fun, especially considering how serious his music can be. I just never thought I would see backup singers for Stevens performing a choreographed dance number throughout the performance.
