Does Bradford Cox have a piece of music to deliver to us every day this week? So far we’ve had two Atlas Sound Halloween songs, the new Deerhunter album, and a session for Pitchfork.tv. Now the ever-generous Cox has given us a gratis Atlas Sound remix of Stereolab’s “Neon Beanbag.” Cox shares a label (4AD) with
Stereolab in Europe and recently toured with the group in the U.S., occasionally even appearing on stage with them.
Cox’s reworking of “Neon Beanbag” opens with a lengthy sample of a preacher, presumably from a film, and is an upbeat, summery affair. In this incarnation the song harks back to previous pop-oriented ‘lab classics such as “Ping Pong,” serving as a reminder of Gane/Sadier’s considerable songwriting skills. The original version of the song appears on Stereolab’s recently released
Chemical Chords album. [via

I love this, reminds ,me of a dream I once had; maybe Atlas had the same one. A great mix.
