Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks: "Tigers"
Sure, "Tigers" is the kind of effortlessly slack indie-pop Stephen Malkmus could probably crank out in his sleep, but that doesn't make it any less fun to listen to. On this, the second track to be revealed from his upcoming Beck-produced album with the Jicks, Mirror Traffic, Malkmus retains all of his vocal charms, offering an elastic performance in the verses before launching into the high-flying chorus. Meanwhile, guitars of all sorts jangle and whine in the background. The whole thing is over in a tidy 2:20, cementing its "pop nugget" status. Give it a spin below.
