Stellastarr: "Graffiti Eyes" (Video)

Following in the heavier footsteps of Interpol and the Strokes earlier in the decade, NYC bands like French Kicks, Ambulance Ltd. and Stellastarr were alternately cursed and blessed. Stellastarr was often derided for wearing its influences too prominently on its sleeve (its eponymous debut has a song called “Pulp Song,” which sounds, in fact, a lot like a Pulp song), but the truth is that the band released some pretty catchy post-punk tunes. Four years has passed since Harmonies for the Haunted saw the band all but disappear from our radar. Now, in support of its new album, Civilized, the band has produced a video for “Graffiti Eyes,” a song already featured in a Gossip Girl episode. If, like me, you’ve always wondered why nobody’s thought to put high-kicking synchronized swimmers against a big, punchy chorus in a music video, then wonder no more. [Via Spinner.]
