Amid odes to New York City and bravado anthems, there is at least one gentler track within the ranks of Statik Selektah's newly released album, Population Control. It's "Damn Right," a lyrically heavy tune that pairs up the respective talents of Joell Ortiz and Brother Ali. They're essentially doing their own take on the "damn right I like the life I live, because I went from negative to postive" line from Biggie's "Juicy." It's a self-aware, unapologetic tune that embraces the fact that both MCs have struggled and hustled just to survive for their themselves and, more importantly, their families.
