Starkey: 'Open The Pod Bay Doors' (EP Preview)

As we previously reported, Philadelphia producer Starkey will release his first project on Ninja Tune, Open the Pod Bay Doors, later this month. The six-track EP is an expectedly futuristic and synth-heavy affair, though it also finds Starkey dipping into more melodic sounds. You can find out exactly what I'm talking about here via a nearly seven-minute preview of the Pod Bay Doors, which also features a whole lot of wobblin'. What's most impressive, though, is his foray into ambient-leaning material toward the end. Perhaps this is a new direction for Starkey.
