Spree Wilson: "I Believe She's Lying" prod. Jon Brion

The latest leak from genre-bending Spree Wilson's The Never Ending Now finds him putting his rapping to the side to put his crooning on full display. And he's doing it over a frantic Jon Brion production that Wilson has reinterpreted with Shoeden!1. The result, "I Believe She's Lying," is a quick-moving, acoustic guitar-led combination of drum and bass and pop sentiments, making for a slightly jarring listen at first. But Wilson's harmonizing and melodic hook work to slow things down to an almost laid-back pace. It's just difficult to hear those drums and not want to tap along.

Stream "I Believe She's Lying" below. The Never Ending Now is due out in early 2011.

What an excellent song! It is however no match to the original! This one is too square and doinky; where's the life go???

speaking of the original, even Jon Brion's album version is no match for his live performances of this song.
