...and when lists fail, make a video! The concept is more or less in the title: a montage of "fake" bands/artists from film and some television.
There are plenty of things the video gets right: Spinal Tap, Blues Brothers and that cantina band from Star Wars practically write the list; Mr. Show's TTOMO is particularly close to my heart; and, of course, Wyld Stallyns. And, of course, there are plenty of missing items: CB4, that group from Fear of a Black Hat, Brian Slade, more recent fare, like Sex BOB-OMB, et. al. And what about the current comedies on NBC and the collective obsession with singing? Yes, expanding past premium cable to include the rest of television would make the montage painfully long, but I have to give a special nod to Bleeding Gums Murphy and the Duke (sorry, Mindy, I'm not so sold on "Subtle Sexuality"). And if covers band "Marvin Berry & the Starlighters" can be included, why not Chappelle as R. Kelly?

Definitely need CB4. But it's not a bad list, really.
Jesse and the Rippers is glaringly absent
I saw Jesse and the Rippers in '89 at the Smash Club. Epic show.
