Sons & Daughters: "Silver Spell" (Optimo Remix) (Streaming)
We already know that Sons & Daughters are dropping a new album titled Mirror Mirror on June 14. But now comes an unusual preview of that record in the shape of a remix of “Silver Spell” by JD Twitch of Optimo fame. It’s been given a post-punk twist, which might not be surprising to anyone familiar with the fascination Optimo has had with that genre over the years, but it works surprisingly well with the dual vocal assault from the band. As the Quietus points out, there’s more than a hint of the Normal’s “Warm Leatherette” here, although this builds toward a far more euphoric spot than Daniel Miller’s old band. There's also a hint of Factory Floor's stern take on electro. Check it out in the clip below.
