Sons & Daughters: "Breaking Fun" (Streaming)
Glaswegian four-piece Sons & Daughters have a new album out later this year titled Mirror, Mirror, which will be their fourth record of blues-inflected rock. They’re previewing that release with the track “Breaking Fun,” which hints at an evolution in their sound since the 2008 album This Gift. Here, the sound is flooded with more space than before, with jerky stop-start rhythms and occasional slabs of guitar noise filling the void. Mirror, Mirror was produced by JD Twitch of Optimo fame, which partly explains the shift in tone here, and certainly makes that upcoming record an intriguing proposition. “Breaking Fun” will be released as a single on June 6, and you can check it out via this link.
