Sonic Youth’s The Eternal is released this week, and the extensive marketing campaign includes a week-long stint on Pitchfork.tv. The series begins with this clip from the lower-than-low-budget A>D>D series, with the band performing the Thurston Moore penned track, “Antenna,” and the upbeat Kim Gordon number, “Sacred Trickster.”
The clip appears to have been shot in the tight confines of a very small studio, with cameras shoved in the faces of band members, who perform surrounded by miscellaneous equipment. Lee Ranaldo spends time fiddling with his guitar FX pedals as “Antenna” progresses, while “Sacred Trickster” gives Mark Ibold a chance to bounce around like an over-aged teenager.
