Someone must have lit a considerable fire under Sole, because he has been nothing short of great on the tracks we have heard from Hello Cruel World, his latest album with the Skyrider Band. This was especially true on "Bad Captain Swag," which featured an unlikely collaboration with Lil B. Sole simply sounds hungry, a quality that could be attributed to the equally great work of his Skyrider Band. Just listen to how they complement his and guest Sage Francis' fired-up bars on "Progress Trap." The production is layered, lush, and, above all, gorgeous. Their work wouldn't be quite as dynamic without the on-point rapping of Sole and Sage, of course, who hadn't worked together in the 10 years prior to recording "Progress Trap." Can you tell? I can't.
You can stream and download the track below. Hello Cruel World drops July 19 on Fake Four Inc.
