Smashing Pumpkins: "Freak"
Despite the fact that there has been absolutely no reason to feel positive about the new Smashing Pumpkins material coming out, I've been headstrong in listening to every new offering from the 44-song epic Teargarden by Kaleidyscopeon the off-chance that one might remind me why I loved Siamese Dream so much in my youth. "Freak" isn't exactly that reaffirmation, but it's by far the most polished turd among the new Pumpkins song. It features some soaring guitar harmonies, melodies that may actually get your head bobbing or toe tapping, and an entire song bereft of cringing lyricism. If Corgan continues at this clip, that means there may very well be nine new Pumpkins songs that aren't awful. Then we can all just agree to pretend those songs are the new record. Another kicking jam from this legendary rocker people need to take note the smashing pumpkins are the best band in the word all the haters be warned

you hit the nail on the head. the other new songs are horrible. freak is pretty good. i still want siamese dream style.

I think it's cool. they are taking alot of chances on this record. It's obvious that they are not too worried about what people might think. There is a certain musical freedom with puting your record out for free on the internet to whoever is interested. Also they are trying the new format of releasing in several small EP's which I think is really neat. It's very internet saavy, "steady stream of content" type stuff. I think it's a neat approach. they are taking chances. you can't really hate them for that.

WTF? I love the Pumpkins please don't think I am a hater because I survived life by there words and music for many years. BUT are you seriously going to accept this crapolla as Pumpkins? How? I want all to relive Siamese and Melon and infinite....... and then listen to this. I hear a man trying to control the world and losing a grip on the beautiful musicians that accentuated his unique voice, one that alone, does not stand a chance.
