As promised, Brooklyn reverb-enthusiasts Small Black are here to deliver their latest project, the free Moon Killer mixtape. And what stands out instantly is the heavy hip-hop influence heard throughout the effort, thanks in part to the two guest appearances by Heems, of Das Racist. His blunted-but-lucid features on "Two Rivers" and "Sunday Son" are straight killers (no pun), particularly on the latter track that uses the same sample heard in Nas' classic "Life's a Bitch."
Elsewhere, you'll hear vocals and beats lifted from the likes of Nicki Minaj and Drake, which Small Black uses as vehicles for their hazy dreamscapes. Otherwise weird amalgamations have never sounded this good. You can stream the mixtape below and download it here.
