“Sleep Paralysis”

Gabriel Bruce possesses a rich, throaty Matt Berninger-esque baritone, and he uses it to great effect on the captivating “Sleep Paralysis,” culled from his debut 7″ dropping on Dec. 5. Initially, Bruce works with little more than a lone organ line and his gravelly pipes; by the end of the track, he’s introduced cacophonous percussion and ramped up his vocal intensity to new heights. In that way, “Sleep Paralysis” is a little reminiscent of the aforementioned Mr. Berninger’s work circa the National’s Alligator. You can stream it below. [Fader]
