Slayer: "Hate Worldwide" (Live On Fallon) (Video)

· by

Applying the term “veterans” to any aging rock band may be a well worn cliché, but few metal acts have the staying power of thrash titans Slayer, who will celebrate their 30th year together as a group in 2011. Far from resting on their laurels, the band members showed up on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (Aug. 10) to play “Hate Worldwide” from their current album, World Painted Blood.

The tiny confines of the Fallon stage may not be the best place to witness Slayer, but they pack it full of Marshall stacks, giving unsuspecting audience members an aural bruising and almost completely obscuring the show’s “band bench” crowd. “Hate Worldwide” isn't vintage Slayer, but it’s a concise distillation of everything they do well—acidic vocals from Tom Araya, a couple of bone shredding guitar solos, and a ruthlessly efficient approach to their art.
