Celebrities such as Christina Aguilera and Whoopi Goldberg have come out in opposition to Proposition 8, which caused marriage in California to be restricted to a union between a man and a woman. Comedian Wanda Sykes has even cited the passing of Proposition 8 as one of her primary motivations for coming out of the closet.
Among the unlikely public figures who have opposed Proposition 8 is Slash, the former Guns N’ Roses guitarist who once happily played along to a song that includes the lyrics “Immigrants and faggots, they make no sense to me” (from Guns N’ Roses’ “One in a Million”). Slash’s wife, Perla Hudson, does most of the talking in the clip, which features the guitarist cranking out a version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
On a serious note, the video is being released as part of the JoinTheImpact.com website, which is striving to attain equality for the LGBTQ community. [NME]
