Jay Leno has got the Tonight Show back, and it’s already turned back into the kind of blandly unremarkable mainstream snooze-fest that made his name. Over on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (April 6) we had adventurous Philly psych rockers Dr. Dog. On Jimmy Kimmel we had Kelis going disco with a stuffed tiger. On Leno? Slash promoting his terrible new solo album.
The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist brought Andrew Stockdale from gut-wrenching Australian rock bad Wolfmother along for the ride, and the pair performed “By the Sword” from the Slash album. It’s the stodgiest, most unpalatable song you’ll hear all year, and even Slash seems to know it—surely these comments are a cry for help in the direction of Axl Rose?
