Over the weekend Arcade Fire man Richard Parry and the brothers Dessner of the National dropped by to spin some choons for BBC 6 Music. Early in the set they premiered two Sufjan Stevens holiday songs, both of which featured contributions from the aforementioned dudes. Aaron Dessner introduced the songs as having been recorded several years ago in his attic during an apparent impromptu session: “Richie happened to be in town and he happened to have his big, beautiful upright bass and we recorded ‘Silent Night.'”
To be clear these tracks have nothing to do with our previous June 2010 report about Sufjan Stevens recording at the National’s studio. However they offer another tiny peek through a rigged peephole at what the collective indie moppishness would sound like together.
