Today has been a big day for Reykjavik’s Sigur Rós. First the band’s sixth full-length, Voltari, premiered a week before its official release, and now there’s a music video for that album’s first track.
Icelandic visual artist/classical musician Ragnar Kjartansson directs the clip for opener “Ég Anda.” Alongside the ambient tune, Sigur Rós give viewers detailed instructions on how to help a choking person. Together, the band learns that breathing is, in fact, great.
Kjartansson is just the first of 12 directors working on music videos for the album. Sigur Rós will release another clip from the series every couple of weeks from artists including John Cameron Mitchell, Ryan McGinley and Ramin Bahrani. Take a look at the video below at pick up Voltari on May 29 via EMI/XL Recordings. [P4K]
