Sigur Rós: "Dauðalogn" (Video) NSFW

Sigur Rós premiered the latest entry to their "Valtari Mystery Film Experiment," a competition series that invites filmmakers to create original videos for each one of the tracks from Valtari. The winning video, as chosen by the band, will be announced at the BFI London Film Festival on Oct. 12 (the winner will also receive $5,000 and veritable bragging rights).

Yesterday, Ruslan Fedotow was awarded the People's Choice honor for his take on "Dauðalogn," a lyrical exploration of the relationship between two men living together in the woods. While the video more or less lacks a cohesive narrative, what it does accomplish is visually capturing the tone of the song. On his video page, Fedotow describes the themes he taps into as "written in the language of the unconscious: candor, repressed childhood feelings and fears: the birth, self-awareness, settling in the outer world, understanding the duality of personality, relationships with parents, fear of death."
