Shyne: "Belize" f. Bob Marley & Notorious B.I.G.
Finally Shyne has found a beat as sleepy and awful as his new "rapping" style: His new single, "Belize," is built on a Bob Marley sample, and features a Biggie sample as well. It continues to confound that this is worth seven figures to L.A. Reid and Def Jam, and I'm sure the folks at XXL (who premiered this and interviewed Shyne in the the new issue) are feeling pretty super-duped right now. Who would have thought Shyne would brick this hard? And seriously, again, did L.A. Reid get a listen to any of this beforehand, or did he buy Shyne based off promises to be the "king" of New York? Didn't listen to this, but man, that picture of Shyne on a motorcycle will never get old.
I almost posted this yesterday but its so horribly awful i decided to post the new Ice Cube song, which is just moderately awful.
I've always said wack rappers are like Freddy Krueger: if you ignore them, they go away. Let's do our part as critics to keep trash like this of sight and out of mind.
