Even though it's been a hip-hop powerhouse for some time, there hasn't been a definitive ode to Atlanta like there is for New York or L.A. (I'd posit "NY State of Mind" and "California Luv"). Shawty Lo is clearly hoping that his new single, "Atlanta, GA" fills that void, and it certainly has the pedigree: It features Ludacris, (who could be credited with launching the Atlanta scene to the big time) The Dream, (Atlanta's current best hit man), and Gucci Mane (Atlanta's best rapper). I mean, the only thing that doesn't fit is Shawty Lo. He's still best known for getting pretty much deaded by a barely trying T.I., who I expect would have pushed this one into the stratosphere, at least as far as Atlanta-repping songs are concerned. You know, I thought of that about an hour ago. Good call.
