Thrifty New Yorkers looking for cheap thrills over the summer could do a lot worse than check out Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings when they play a large free outdoor show at Prospect Park in Brooklyn on August 7. The band performed in more intimate surroundings last night (June 24) when they appeared on Jay Leno’s show.
“She Ain’t A Child No More” is taken from I learned the Hard Way and is a perfect way to experience the exuberant retro soul stylings of Jones and her band. This song is surely just one Quentin Tarantino soundtrack away from huge mainstream acceptance, although with the album debuting at no. 15 on the Billboard 200, Jones seems to be doing just fine on her own.
