We already know that Shakira has a fondness for somber Brits The xx, but it seems the singer is really intent on spreading the word about Romy Madley-Croft and her band. Shakira brought her version of “Islands” to Glastonbury this past weekend, complete with a glitzy showbiz intro announcing them as one of her favorite bands.
Sadly, this bizarro world version of the song didn’t feature an actual collaboration with The xx, who were playing elsewhere at the festival, although this was probably a good thing for anyone tripping out of their mind at the time, who may have been utterly freaked out by such an occurrence.
Looking for "indie" credibility or just likes the band?
She's mentioned a few times that she really likes them, but I think she's looking for the indie cred especially at Glastonbury.
Crap. she just destroyed a beautiful piece of music.
