Seasick Steve: "You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks" (Video)

· by

A week or so ago we were marveling at Seasick Steve’s performance of “Don’t Know Why She Love Me But She Do” on Jools Holland’s show, and now comes another chance to hear a cut from his You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks. That record comes out next week on Jack White’s Third Man label, and is being previewed by this clip for the title track, which transports Steve into a lovable animated character. White produced this song and played drums, and former Led Zeppelin man John Paul Jones contributes bass—and it rocks as hard as you'd expect from a record that features such luminaries.

Just to correct you, Jack White neither produced this track, nor played on it. Jack and Steve did two songs together which are being released on 7" Third Man's Blue Series and as bonus tracks on iTunes in the UK. These two tracks are "Write Me A Few Lines" and "Levee Camp Blues" (both Mississippi Fred McDowell covers). The song in the video, "You Can't Teach An Old Dog New Tricks" is written and produced by Seasick Steve, with Dan Magnusson on drums, and John Paul Jones on bass. The video itself is the handiwork of Reuben Sutherland over at Joyrider films.
All the best,
The Skunk =)
