There’s a raucous new album from Screaming Females due in September titled Castle Talk, which should build on all the hard work the group did while touring with the Dead Weather, Dinosaur Jr. and Arctic Monkeys during the promo stint for Power Move. Naturally, the hard working group has a slew of tour dates lined up around the release of the record (see below), and they’ve also shot this video for “I Don’t Mind It.”
On first listen this sounds like a vintage Screaming Females track, if such a thing is possible for a band so young. Marissa Paternoster’s guttural shriek is capable of disemboweling unsuspecting audience members at 40 paces, and her impressive guitar playing makes her a natural heir to the palatable-shredding-and-soloing throne previously only occupied by J Mascis and Neil Young. But while this all sounds good, and Castle Talk is bound to be an enjoyable romp, it’s on these live dates that the band will really shine:
