Chris Cornell’s collaboration with Timbaland, Scream, hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. Even Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has been poking fun at the former Soundgarden singer for his sudden change of direction. “You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable?” says Reznor. “Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus.”
Perhaps mindful of these criticisms, Cornell has stripped the title track from the album down to an acoustic setting for this performance, which has been shot exclusively for Universal Music. No embedding of the video is allowed, so go here to view it, and while you’re there you can download an MP3 of the acoustic “Scream” and a host of Soundgarden ringtones. I think I’ll pass on having my phone chirping “Black Hole Sun” when it rings.
