Scott Weiland

Reel Around The Fountain (Smiths Cover) (Audio)

Apparently Scott Weiland, he of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver (and heroin) fame, is a huge Smiths fan. So huge, in fact, that he covered the band's "Reel Around The Fountain" (from their self-titled debut) on the Deluxe Edition of his new album, "Happy" In Galoshes. The audio proof is above for your perusal, and it's not too bad (it's not great either), except for the uber-corny vocal breakdowns (and near scatting) Weiland does near the end. [Stereogum]

I saw SW last night and this one was definitely the highlight, by which I mean I had to leave the room for the rest of the set.

Wow, Weiland couldn't get a bone from Rock press if he f*ckin' David Bowie, having a sex scandal with Jenny Lewis, and recording a record with Jim James at a flat in Hanoi!

Granted, his smith's cover is prob lame...and his new records appears to be the same...

Well crap.....

I caught his show at a music fest last night... it was sad, most of the room did clear out until he got offstage. It didn't help that Kanye West, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and The Cure came on right after and wiped the floor with him.

Yeah, he hasn't gotten any press of late.
