Scissor Sisters: "Fire With Fire" (Streaming)

· by

Scissor Sisters are a bona fide pop phenomenon in the U.K., where their eponymous debut album has sold an astonishing 2,500,000 copies to date. So it’s no surprise that the band has debuted their new single, “Fire With Fire,” over there, and you can hear it above in a ripped YouTube clip from a BBC radio show.

The song is business as usual for the group, with plenty of pop hooks, catchy vocal melodies, and an overall whiff of the ‘70s all studiously worked into the track. The band have also courted controversy for the artwork for their upcoming album, Night Work, which features the clenched buttocks of ballet dancer Peter Reed (see below).

“Management, band, label - everybody thought I was out of my mind,” said Jake Shears, in relation to the cover art. “But I knew the moment I saw it that that was the album over. There's a sense of unabashed in-your-face sexuality. It's got a sense of humor, it's playful, and it looks like someone who's just been dancing their ass off. And that's what this record's about.”
