“Scars” (Video)

Riply Johnson knows keyboard psychedelia. Between Moon Duo and his other group, Wooden Shjips, he’s become an expert out of manipulating electronic sounds into hazy, burnt out atmospherics. On “Scars,” the band uses droning guitars and an almost chant-like vocal performance to arrive at a contemplative little corner of the universe. It perfectly fits the video, which features old home video footage of the mother of Moon Duo’s Sanae Yamada. It’s not hard to imagination Mrs. Yamada spinning around to a song like “Scars,” which will be relased on the band’s recently released Mazes LP for Sacred Bones. [Fader]
