"Glorified High," the first single off Sarah Jaffe's sophomore album, The Body Wins, is an electronic-tinged gem in its own right. So when fellow Texans The Cannabinoids remixed the track, they actually put a slower, stonier (no pun intended) spin on it.
Conceived by Erykah Badu, the hip-hop/soul collective comprises nine members, each with his or her own special gift to offer. Together, the group smoothed out the orignal's rough edges, creating a fluid, spacey rework while maintaining the song's original appeal.
"Working with Sarah on this remix was a real honor," The Cannabinoids' PicnicTyme admitted. "I saw her perform for the first time somewhere around 2006 in Denton, TX. She was just as inspiring then as much as she is now. After all these years, it was an amazing experience to get to worth with the Cannabinoids and Sarah on this dope remix."
Jaffe shares a mutual excitement about the project, saying, "I was thrilled and honored to say the least when Cannabinoids made this remix. I met PicnicTyme through a mutual friend, Astronautilis, years back and was a big fan ever since. He's done so much for the Dallas music scene and I have the utmost respect for him and The Cannabinoids."
