Vampire Weekend (well, at least frontman Ezra Koenig) has made no attempt to hide his love for ’90s punk and ska. So in that sense, it’s totally reasonable that when the band went onto BBC Radio One recently to record a session, they recorded a cover of Rancid’s “Ruby Soho” during the part of the session where all bands record a cover. It’s basically exactly like you’d expect this to be: It’s all delicate, erudite, and less punky than the Rancid original. Though it could probably work on any of Vampire Weekend’s albums without any problems. Go here to hear.
