Rubblebucket: "Silly Fathers" (RAC Remix - Prefix Premiere)
Rubblebucket is a Brooklyn collective of nearly a dozen brass-playing, keyboard thumping members that has been impressingcritics this summer with their playful cross-cultural music (something critics are a bit of a sucker for). This track is pretty thorough remixing of their song “Silly Fathers” by RAC, which replaces the plodding bass that drove the original with a tinkling, cascading marimba and decidedly more dancey atmosphere. The first few seconds of sighing horns sound lifted from late-90s Bjork, which I mean as the highest sort of compliment. The whole thing takes on an Arthur Russell / Tom Tom Club feel that is, well, a lot of fun. Their record, Omega La La, was released June 21.
