At a benefit for Unicef in Brussels,
Robyn was joined by a full orchestra for “With Every Heartbeat,” a standout track on her
self-titled 2005 album. I made
a crack last week about how I’m getting sick of hearing the songs on the album since they’re three years old, but the orchestra aspect gives “With Every Heartbeat” a new sheen. The pop-performer paired with an orchestra doesn’t always go well (hello, Metallica), but here it is done in a way to maximize the song’s impact instead of trying capitalize on the “hey, let’s see how we can incorporate these cellists” aspect.
