Nirvana's "Sliver" is one of the deeper cuts in Nirvana's catalog (it was released as single on Sub Pop in 1990 and re-released on Insecticide), so it's kind of surprising that one picked it up until now on the A.V. Club's Undercover series. It's not like you have to fret about replicating the verses of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or something. All you have to do is yell a bit and it'll be pretty faithful.
Not that it'll be any good though; Rise Against tackle the song this week, and it's okay I guess. But singer Tim McIlrath doesn't really have the voice for it; he's less screaming and more throaty shouting. Plus way too much distortion, dudes. Though it does get better at the end. [AV Club]
tough project, but pretty cool idea regardless. i agree that the band does a better job covering towards the end
Man, whoever the last band is that comes in there and has to tackle the song nobody else wanted to cover is a brave, brave band.
