The "ft. Ne-Yo" tag above is perhaps a bit misleading; Ne-Yo appears on the track, but he doesn't appear with Rick Ross in the video for "Boss Lady." The video does look like it was shot on the cheap, so maybe the expense of bringing Ne-Yo down to the Caribbean was squashed by Def Jam. Or Ross is doing his own videos, and Def Jam had nothing to do with this.
But that doesn't really matter. This song is one of the least insidious on Deeper Than Rap, which is an accomplishment, since so much of the album is a shocking disconnect between what Ross actually is (a former prison guard who now raps) and what he wishes and presents himself as (a drug kingpin who buys his women jewelry and nice things in South America while presumably on a drug run).
