So I guess Richard Ashcroft is back. After three years of silence in U.S., the former Verve frontman is touring the country and releasing a video to promote his newest solo record -- the first since 2006's Keys to the World and fourth overall. It already came out last year in the U.K., but no matter.
The video for lead single "Are You Ready?" above, plays things pretty straight: just Ashcroft and his exceptionally pronounced cheekbones performing onstage. He answers his own question (yes, indeed he is ready), and adopts the feigned rock star god pose that he's been developing since the Verve. It's a little self-important, but those who loved Urban Hymns enough may be inclined to forgive him for it.
United Nations of Sound is out March 22 in the States.
