Regina Spektor: "Machine" (Live on Fallon) (Video)

Regina Spektor is still out there promoting her Far album, and showed up on Jimmy Fallon’s show to perform “Machine” from the record last night (Feb. 9). The album struck a chord with North American music buyers and entered the Billboard chart at number 3, confirming her mainstream status.

It’s not difficult to see why Spektor became so popular. She operates in a sort of singer-songwriter middle ground, where she amalgamates the quirky elements of Kate Bush and the mainstream stylings of Tori Amos, never quite emulating either of them, but delivering a palatable set of songs with strong commercial appeal.

I couldn't agree more. Astute assessment.

Are you kidding me? How many times does a male critic have to compare a female singer-songwriter to either Kate Bush or Tori Amos, as if these are the only other female singer-songwriters in the world? This is the laziest assessment you can possibly make.

You forgot to throw Fiona Apple in there. She has a vagina and plays piano, too.

LOL, I once read a comment from a retard saying Regina isn't doing anything differently fom Tori or Fiona. Yet that same retard considers Elvis Presley a musical genius, someone who didn't even write his own songs. LOL!!!
