The first two advance tracks from Regina Spektor's upcoming Far, "Laughing With" and "Blue Lips," are far more grave affairs than "Fidelity" and "Better," the same tracks from 2006's Begin to Hope. Regina Spektor continued her escape from mom-rock on Jools Holland, performing "Blue Lips" with nothing but her piano and a string-quartet. It's nice to hear a track from her without all of the major label sonic accoutrements, but considering her early work, it makes you wonder how she would sound just singing to her piano.
Far is out June 23 on Sire.

regina sounds so much better when it's just her and her piano. i miss those songs.... the whole album Songs is quite possibly her best. (Although Soviet Kitch was pretty amazing too.) I'm excited about this album if it's a little less upbeat.
