Reflection Eternal: "Midnight Hour" f. Estelle (Video)

· by

Almost every element of this video and track works. For "Midnight Hour," Talib Kweli opted to switch up his flow a little and offer something other than his trademark delivery. Estelle's doo-wop-influenced hook is catchy, as is her mini-verse toward the end of the track. Equally impressive are the track's visuals, which are a fitting throwback to the aforementioned doo-wop era. But there's just something about Hi-Tek's beat, especially during the verses, that sounds off. Otherwise, this is actually a decent enough mainstream single, even if Kweli looks kind of awkward at times in the video.

Reflection Eternal's Revolutions Per Minute is due out May 18.
