You got to hand it Nick THorburn: he never stays put in one genre for for very long. He kicked off the new-afro-pop craze with Islands, did sunny-AM tracks with Human Highway, and now with Reefer, he’s doing hip-hop crossed with luau music.
“May Baleen,” a track from Reefer’s debut album, The Life Narcotic, mixes Hawaiian traditions with hip-hop drum programming thanks to producer Daddy Kev, Thorburn’s contributor in this band.
The Life Narcotic is due out on October 14 via Alpha Pup. [Pitchfork]
