
Like "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" before it, "Monarchy of Roses" is another mainstream-friendly single from Red Hot Chili Peppers' latest album, I'm With You. Where it differs greatly from its predecessor, however, is in its visual treatment. Whereas "Rain Dance Maggie" was a straightforward performance video, "Monarchy of Roses" is far more pleasing to the eyes. You can thank director Marc Klasfied for that, as he weaves together animations based on the work of artist Raymond Pettibon.
