While the previous single, "Radio," from Raphael Saadiq's forthcoming album sounded straight from a dusty Beach Boys tape, his latest track finds him dwelling in the much darker reaches of soul music. "Good Man" boasts a production reminiscent of that heard on Aloe Blacc's recent throwback release, Good Things, though Saadiq's track has an almost raw quality to it. There's something equally haunting and thrilling about this cut, even if it's killing me that I can't place who's providing the female vocals on here.
Stone Rolling is due out March 22.
The female singer who provides those terrific vocals is named Taura Stinson, but as a recording artist, she also goes by the name of Aura Jackson. Longtime collaborator of Saadiq, hailing from Oakland as well (calls her his adopted sister).

Wow the female vocals on the track "good man" sounds an awful lot like Gwen Stefani.
